Andy Ruiz Jr Weighs In On Anthony Joshua & Tyson Fury Clash
Andy Ruiz Jr appears to change prediction for Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury and now backs AJ to win, if he uses specific tactics.
Andy Ruiz Jr has seemingly changed his mind about who is going to win when Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury fight this year.
The British heavyweight kings have signed contracts for their undisputed heavyweight title bout with just the site deal left to be finalised.
Ruiz Jr conquered AJ for the WBA, IBF and WBO titles by seventh-round knockout in their first fight in 2019, but was comprehensively outboxed in the rematch six months later.
Fury then dethroned Deontay Wilder to take the WBC title.
Since then, Joshua defended by knocking out Kubrat Pulev at the end of 2020, but this performance did not impress Ruiz Jr.
When asked about the prospect of AJ now fighting Fury, Ruiz Jr initially told Little Giant Boxing back in February: “I think that it’s gonna be an interesting fight.
“I fought Anthony Joshua, I haven’t fought Tyson Fury. Tyson Fury has a real style, he’s tall, he fights tall.
“I kinda see Tyson Fury winning that fight. I wasn’t too impressed with Anthony Joshua’s last performance, but he got the job done.
“I think maybe Tyson Fury might get him, depends how awkward he is.
“If he boxes – Anthony hasn’t fought anybody that boxes around and moves around, so we’ll see.”
However, in a new interview, it appears his opinion has changed completely.
Ruiz Jr has now told the Mail when asked about the fight: “Fury has a really weird style.
“I feel if Joshua doesn’t box around – like he did to me – and goes forward, throws his combinations, I think Anthony will pull out the victory.”
