Anthill Studios Launches Children’s Entertainment Platform to Promote African Storytelling
Anthill Studios has unveiled Anthill Family, a new division dedicated to producing engaging, culturally relevant content for children in Nigeria and Africa. This initiative seeks to fill a long-standing gap in the entertainment industry, where local children’s content has been overshadowed by foreign animations and shows.
The studio emphasized that the lack of homegrown children’s programming has limited cultural storytelling and representation. With Anthill Family, the goal is to create high-quality, educational, and entertaining content that reflects African traditions and values while nurturing creativity and learning.
One of the first projects under this new initiative is Temi & The Labalaba Band (TATLB), an animated musical series premiering on April 19, 2025. The show follows the adventures of young Temi and her bandmates as they navigate challenges, explore their creativity, and discover the power of friendship through music. TATLB is designed to entertain, educate, and empower young audiences by providing relatable African narratives.
Anthill Studios also highlighted the economic potential of the children’s content market, citing its ability to drive engagement, merchandise sales, and long-term viewer loyalty. Despite this, the Nigerian entertainment industry has largely overlooked this segment. The studio calls for greater industry and government support to develop and expand children’s programming.
With the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) including children’s content in its 2025 agenda, there is hope for more funding, training, and policy support in this space. Anthill Studios is inviting investors, educators, and industry leaders to collaborate in shaping a vibrant and meaningful media landscape for the next generation.
