Asake Leaves YBNL and Launches His Own Record Label, Giran Republic

Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has officially parted ways with YBNL Nation, the record label owned by music executive Olamide. He confirmed his exit by unveiling his own record label, Giran Republic, under which he released his latest single, Why Love.

This move comes after months of speculation about his departure from YBNL, with many believing he left under controversial circumstances. However, Asake subtly addressed the rumors earlier in the year when he paid tribute to Olamide in his song Military, released in early 2025.

Asake signed with YBNL in February 2022 and quickly rose to fame as one of Nigeria’s biggest music stars. Just months later, he secured a major distribution deal with Empire, a partnership that remains intact despite his departure from YBNL.

Fans have been eager to see Asake’s next move, and with the launch of Giran Republic, he now has full control over his music career. Despite leaving YBNL, Asake continues to show respect for Olamide, proving that not all label exits end in conflict.
