On August 21, 2024, Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake headlined a sold-out concert at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta as part of his ‘Lungu Boy’ tour. The event marked the second date of his highly anticipated tour, drawing an enthusiastic crowd and several high-profile celebrities, including Grammy-nominated superstar Davido, hitmaker Zlatan, and American rappers Quavo and Russ.

‘Lungu Boy’ set a new benchmark for the biggest opening week on Spotify Nigeria, amassing 18.9 million streams and surpassing the previous record of 14.4 million streams held by Davido’s ‘Timeless.’ Asake’s album also set a new record for the biggest opening day global streams for a Nigerian album on Spotify, with an impressive 9.2 million streams. Additionally, the album’s second track, ‘MMS,’ recorded 870,577 streams on its first day of release on Spotify Nigeria, breaking the platform’s previous record.

Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ not only leads the list of the biggest opening weeks on Spotify Nigeria but also makes him the only artist with two albums in the top 10, as his sophomore album ‘Work Of Art’ garnered 8.3 million streams in its opening week. The success of ‘Lungu Boy’ solidifies Asake’s position as a dominant force in the global music scene.
