AY Defends 2Baba Over Divorce Backlash
Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has urged the public to stop condemning music icon 2Baba over his divorce announcement, emphasizing that no one enters marriage expecting it to fail.
Amidst ongoing criticism directed at 2Baba, AY expressed concern over the way people quickly judge without understanding the real reasons behind a marital breakdown. He called out online critics, whom he referred to as “online in-laws,” for focusing on blame rather than the deeper issues affecting marriages today.
Taking to his Instagram story, AY wrote, “The man is always the monster in every story. Until you hear the true story.” He echoed similar sentiments on X, questioning why people are quick to cast blame instead of addressing the challenges facing marriages.
“It is troubling to see online in-laws and blogs revel in sensationalism, often at the expense of those who are hurting. Real lives are involved. Let’s choose empathy over drama and content. Some of you will never rest until you lead your fellow human to suicide,” he added.
AY’s remarks highlight the growing concern over social media scrutiny and the impact of public judgment on personal lives.
