Ayra Starr Radiates at Spotify’s Exclusive Listening Party for Her Latest Album

On May 22, 2024, Spotify hosted an exclusive listening party for Nigerian international sensation Ayra Starr, attracting notable figures from the Nigerian music industry. The event took place in Victoria Island, Lagos, and provided guests with a first listen to the tracks on Ayra Starr’s upcoming album, The Year I Turned 21.

Ayra Starr attended the event and described the process of making the album as both demanding and fulfilling, highlighting the collaborative effort of her entire team. During a Q&A session hosted by On-Air Personality Ope, she gave a detailed breakdown of the creation process for each track on the album.

Notable attendees included Mavin founder and CEO Don Jazzy, COO Tega Oghenejobo, and Ayra Starr’s label mates Crayon and Bayyani. The event also saw the presence of dancer and artist Poco Lee, OAPs D0TUN from Cool FM, Sheye Banks of SoundCity, Realskillz & Cera from Max FM, content creator and OAP Jay On Air, and TurnTable Charts co-founder Ayomide Oriowo.

Ahead of the album’s release, Ayra Starr has dropped three singles: “Rhythm & Blues,” “Comma,” and the recently released “Bad Vibes” featuring Seyi Vibez. The Year I Turned 21 will feature guest appearances from Asake, Giveon, Coco Jones, Aniita, and Ayra Starr’s younger brother Milar.

Ayra Starr, who recently received three nominations for the 2024 BET Awards, shared that her sophomore album is crafted from the perspective of a 21-year-old but is designed to resonate with listeners across all age groups.
