Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o declared biological dad of woman by Spanish court
Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o has been ruled the biological father of a woman after a romp in 1998, a court in Spain has ruled. The 40-year-old former footballer was absent at court proceedings in Madrid and has never acknowledged that he is the father of Erika Do Rosario Nieves.
Her mother, Adiluesa, began legal proceedings in 2018 and was able to provide biological evidence to support her testimony that Eto’o is the father. The court reached a verdict on Thursday, declaring that Eto’o is Erika’s biological father and must now pay an allowance dating back to when the lawsuit was filed.
Eto’o is said to have met Adiluesa at a Madrid nightclub back in 1997 whilst he was playing on loan at nearby Leganes.
The lawsuit states, according to Spanish outlet EFE, that the pair later developed a relationship before Adiluesa discovered she was pregnant in February 1998.
Eto’o was only 17 at the time and court documents state he ‘told her that he would act responsibly with respect to the common child, although he preferred that she did not give birth to the child.’ Adiluesa’s case also added that ‘during the pregnancy she tried to communicate with the future father [Eto’o] but he did not answer her phone calls or reply to her email.
He has been ordered to pay an allowance totalling €1,400 per month to his daughter, which is dated back to when the lawsuit was filed back in 2018..
