Basketmouth Announces Full-Time Shift to Music and Filmmaking in 2025
Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has revealed his plans to focus entirely on music and filmmaking starting in 2025. In a recent interview with Pulse, Basketmouth shared his intentions to delve deeper into these creative fields, marking a significant shift in his career.
Basketmouth disclosed that his journey into comedy was not planned. Initially, he had aspirations to pursue a music career, but after struggling to gain recognition, he turned to comedy, which he discovered was a natural talent he had from a young age. According to him, his entry into comedy was more of a happy accident. He had always been funny since primary school, but music, particularly rap, was something he initially thought could be his path. However, after realizing that music wasn’t progressing as he had hoped, he embraced comedy, which eventually led to his success.
Looking ahead, Basketmouth is excited about his return to music, saying that he plans to create EPs and collaborate with other artists. He emphasized that filmmaking is his first passion, and he intends to prioritize it over comedy. Although comedy has brought him fame, Basketmouth has always had a strong desire to make movies, and now he is ready to pursue that dream full-time.
“I’m going to take music more seriously in 2025. I want to create EPs because there are some artists I want to work with. I want to go into music and movies full-time. To be honest, movies are my first choice. I prioritize movies over comedy. It has always been like that; it’s just that I haven’t made the movie yet,” he explained.
Basketmouth’s decision to pivot back to his roots in music and filmmaking reflects his evolving creative journey, as he prepares to embrace new challenges and opportunities in 2025.
