Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri Denies Impregnating BBNaija Star Nengi, Calls It Political Sabotage
Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has strongly denied widespread rumours alleging that he impregnated reality TV star Nengi Rebecca Hampson. The speculation, which spread rapidly on social media, claimed that Nengi recently gave birth to a child fathered by the governor, who is rumoured to have four wives.
In response to the claims, Nengi took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to refute the allegations, stating: “Let me be clear, I’m not pregnant for any governor.” Despite her clarification, the rumours continued to circulate, fueling online debates.
Reacting to the controversy, the Director-General of New Media to the Governor, Dr. Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, dismissed the claims as false and politically motivated. In a Facebook post, he described the accusations as an attempt by Governor Diri’s opponents to distract from activities marking his 5th anniversary in office.
“Political enemies of His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, are at work again. What a wicked set of people spreading falsehood on a day the Prosperity Administration commenced activities marking its 5th anniversary,” Oredipe wrote.
He further emphasized that Nengi has no personal relationship with the governor and condemned the misuse of social media for spreading unverified information.
While both Nengi and the Bayelsa government have denied the rumours, the controversy has continued to spark discussions online, with many questioning the origins of the claims.
