BBNaija’s Sheggz: Splitting Bills Equally with a Partner is Disrespectful

Segun Olusemo, widely known as Sheggz from Big Brother Naija, has stirred conversation with his recent remarks on financial responsibilities in relationships. During an appearance on the ‘Bahd And Boujee’ podcast, Sheggz voiced his belief that it is disrespectful for a man to split bills equally with his partner.

Sheggz elaborated on his viewpoint, stating that while a woman can contribute to household expenses, it should not be on an equal footing with the man. Using his own relationship as an example, Sheggz shared that his girlfriend, Bella, contributes about 20 percent to their shared expenses, while he covers the remaining 80 percent.

“I don’t want my babe paying my bills or even paying her own bills because it’s going to be disrespectful,” Sheggz stated. “By the way, I go for women that work really hard. In my situation, my woman works really hard and she is actually successful, but I understand that my money is our money and her money is her money.”

Sheggz emphasized the importance of providing for his partner as part of his role, expressing satisfaction if his partner brings peace into their home. “No 50/50 in my home. My house is 80/20. I wouldn’t say 100 percent because that is very unfair,” he added. “When my woman spends her money, she won’t feel bad because she doesn’t do it all the time. I feel like as men we are wired to provide.”

His statements have sparked varied reactions, with some agreeing with his traditional views on gender roles in financial matters, while others debate the fairness and practicality of such an arrangement in modern relationships.
