Boy-child welfare equally important, says Sanwo-Olu

The wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has said the welfare and interests of the boy child are also important and should be recognized by parents.

Sanwo-Olu said this on Saturday during the inauguration of the Boy Child Initiative by the Office of the First Lady in Alausa, Ikeja.

The initiative, themed, “The 21st Century Boy Child, Creating a Vision for Transformation”, included a sensitization walk by the wife of the governor and non-governmental organizations, among others, from Ikeja City Mall to Lagos House, Ikeja.

Sanwo-Olu said, “As we commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, we are of the strong view that the interests, welfare and well-being of the boy child too should be factored into the scheme of affairs.

“One of the reason we decided to embark on this initiative is that there is a cry out there that parents knowingly and unknowingly are putting a lot of emphasis on the girl girl but seem to be forgetting that the boy child is equally important and we need to balance it”.
