Catholic Archbishop Condemns Tinubu’s Fuel Subsidy Removal Amid Economic Hardship

Amid the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria, the Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for the abrupt removal of fuel subsidy, likening it to a bomb blast that exacerbates the nation’s woes.

Speaking to journalists at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral in Kaduna, Archbishop Ndagoso expressed his disappointment with Tinubu’s approach to removing the subsidy, suggesting that it should have been phased out gradually rather than abruptly, which would have mitigated the impact on the populace.

He urged Tinubu to address the pressing issues facing Nigerians before they succumb to the grip of hunger induced by the harsh economic conditions.

Attributing the economic hardship to flawed government policies, Ndagoso emphasized that Nigerians are enduring unnecessary suffering that could have been prevented with better governance.

He criticized Tinubu’s policies for exacerbating the challenges faced by ordinary citizens, stating, “Anyone who cares about Nigeria shouldn’t have removed subsidy, Tinubu should have done it gradually and not like bomb blast.”
