Chelsea’ Ike Ugbo Set To Leave For KRC Genk
Young Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo had reportedly agreed personal terms with KRC Genk over a month ago, but the expected £5m transfer had been stuck in limbo ever since.
But now, at long last, things appear to be moving in the right direction, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the agreement between the clubs is now “complete”. This comes not longer after an attempted 11th-hour gazumping from Olympique Marseille, which evidently was not successful.
Chelsea talent Ike Ugbo will join Genk on a permanent deal, agreement now completed for £5m fee. OM were tryijng to hijack the deal since days – but Ugbo will join Genk soon. #CFC #OM
Genk have already planned his medical for next week, as @Santi_J_FM confirmed.

Ugbo had spent a few weeks training with the first-team at the start of preseason, and even scored a goal in our friendly against AFC Bournemouth. The 22-year-old had spent the last four years out on various loans, not finding much success at first (at Barnsley, MK Dons, and Scunthorpe), but finding his feet once again in the Dutch second division with Roda JC and then last season in the Belgian top flight with Cercle Brugge.
He’s now set to return to Belgium, joining the team who finished second and will be playing Europa League football as well, as a reward for his success.
