Dammy Krane Apologizes to Davido After Release from Police Custody

Nigerian singer Oyindamola Emmanuel Johnson-Hunga, better known as Dammy Krane, has been released after spending six days in police custody at the Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja. He was detained on allegations related to cybercrime, following accusations he made against fellow musician Davido.

Dammy Krane was arrested on August 22nd, shortly after claiming that Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, had orchestrated his arrest by falsely accusing him of being involved in illegal activities connected to Flutterwave and cryptocurrency scams. Krane even went as far as warning the public that Davido should be held accountable if anything happened to him during his detention.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Dammy Krane has retracted his accusations against Davido. In a video shared by social media activist VeryDarkMan, following his release, Dammy Krane expressed his gratitude and issued an apology to Davido. He stated, “I wanna say a big thank you to my brother. I know there are a lot of words that ought not to be said. I know. I want to apologize for this Tagbo death allegation. Make una still remember David is my brother. And we are going to find a major ground to resolve everything.” The mention of Tagbo refers to a past dispute involving the death of their mutual friend, Tagbo Umeike.

Dammy Krane also took the opportunity to thank the police commissioner in Abuja and VeryDarkMan for their support while he was in custody. Despite his release, details regarding the specific charges or reasons for his detention remain unclear. The FCID spokesperson, Funmilayo Eguaoje, confirmed that Krane was released after being interrogated by the cybercrime unit but did not provide further information.

The tension between Dammy Krane and Davido has been ongoing for several months. Krane previously accused Davido of owing him money for songwriting contributions and sabotaging his record deal with Sony Music. In response, Davido denied any financial obligations to Krane, calling him “ungrateful” and revealing that he had offered Krane shelter and support during a difficult time when Krane was homeless. Davido also dismissed the allegations surrounding Tagbo Umeike’s death, warning that he might take legal action against Krane for “defamation of character and cyberbullying.”

Meanwhile, Dammy Krane announced the upcoming release of a new project titled ‘King of Afrobeats,’ which is scheduled to drop on September 6. In his video message, he encouraged his fans to focus on positivity and music, saying, “It is still WorldStar movement. Let us spread more music.”
