Davido Reveals He No Longer Has Personal Ties With Wizkid and Burna Boy
Nigerian music superstar Davido has said that he no longer shares a personal bond with fellow Afrobeats giants Wizkid and Burna Boy. In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, the singer revealed that even though he used to be close to them, things have changed over time.
The Fem crooner shared that while there was once a friendship between him and the other two artists, that relationship no longer exists. He explained that the focus of the Afrobeats industry has shifted from being centered on just three people to now including a new wave of stars like Rema and Ayra Starr.
In his words, “I don’t have a personal relationship with them [Wizkid and Burna Boy]. I did at some point in time… The conversation is bigger than the ‘Big 3’ right now; there’s Rema, there’s Ayra Starr and other artists. Right now, I think the three of us understand that it is bigger than us.”
Davido’s comment highlights the growing impact of younger talents in the Afrobeats scene, showing that the genre has evolved beyond being defined by only three names. As new artists rise in global popularity, the industry continues to expand and shift its focus.
When asked about his rumored fallout with Tiwa Savage, Davido described it as nothing serious. He stressed that their bond remains strong and likened their disagreement to a small family issue. “Tiwa Savage is my sister for life, I love her and her child, we are family. Our fight is just like a brother and sister’s fight. I will never allow anything to happen to her,” he said.
This heartfelt statement reflects Davido’s loyalty to those he considers close, despite occasional misunderstandings. It also shows that personal growth and changes in relationships are natural, especially in the music industry where pressures and priorities often shift.
As Davido continues to make music and represent Nigeria globally, fans are watching how these evolving relationships will shape the future of Afrobeats. The message is clear—Afrobeats is no longer just about the “Big 3,” but about a whole new generation making their mark.
