Davido Says He Doesn’t Consider Weed a Hard Drug
Nigerian singer David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has clarified his stance on cannabis, stating that he does not regard it as a hard drug. During a recent appearance on The Morning Hustle podcast, the artist discussed his foundation’s ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse, particularly among youths.
Davido addressed the controversy surrounding his involvement in anti-drug abuse campaigns while being open about his cannabis use. Some critics have labeled him a hypocrite, but Davido defended his position, emphasizing that he does not view weed as a harmful substance compared to other drugs. He explained, “I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed, but I don’t count it as a drug.”
The artist also touched on the rising concern of drug addiction and its impact on individuals, particularly the youth. He expressed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at helping young people overcome addiction. “A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit,” he said.
Davido’s donation to this cause reflects his desire to contribute positively to the fight against substance abuse, despite his personal use of cannabis.
