Def Jam Recordings Africa appoints Larry Gaaga as its new Vice President

Universal Music Group (UMG) imprint Def Jam Recordings Africa has announced top Nigerian music executive, Larry Gaaga as its new vice-president for A&R. The appointment comes two years after Def Jam launched in South Africa and Nigeria..

Larry Gaaga will lead Def Jam’s A&R division across English-speaking countries.

Larry Gaaga is behind multiple commercially successful tracks including ‘Gaga Shuffle’ with 2Baba, ‘Slow Burner’ featuring Joeboy, the Davido-assisted ‘Doe’ and ‘Low’ featuring Wizkid. Though he is not known to be the singing type but his featurings have always given the populace a tune to dance to.

“I’m excited at the opportunity I’ve been entrusted with here at Def Jam Africa,” Larry Gaaga said. “My experience as an artist and manager at the label not only gives me a unique perspective to share with our talent, but means I’m well versed in the spirit and culture of this legacy label.”
