Delta receives report on internet fraud, says Yahoo Boys redeemable

The Delta State government has said youths involved in fraud are redeemable, promising to rehabilitate them.

The Secretary to the state government, Chief Patrick Ukah, spoke when a committee established by the state government to proffer to the menace of internet fraud in the state presented its report to the government.

Ukah noted that the state government had been greatly disturbed by the rising trend of internet fraud.

He explained that the government decided to deal with the menace of internet fraud through the constitution of the committee to “holistic examine the problem with a view of proffering more realistic solutions beyond the normal legal actions against fraud offenders which have proved to be inadequate in addressing the problem”.

The SSG commended members of the committee to the timeliness in competing the assignment and assured Deltans that the government would study the report with a view to implementing its recommendations for the good of the society.

The Chairman of the committee, Isaiah Bozimor, who is also the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, had earlier disclosed that the committee made 28 recommendations on how to tackle internet fraud in the state.

Some of the recommendations, he explained, would require legislative actions while others could be implemented through the approval of the State Executive Council.
