Eto’o Wins Legal Battle to Contest CAF Election

Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o has won his case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which has ordered the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to allow him to run for its executive committee.

CAF had previously rejected Eto’o’s candidacy despite his role as president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) since 2021. However, CAS ruled in his favor, ensuring his inclusion in the election scheduled for March 12, 2025, during CAF’s general assembly meeting.

The former Barcelona striker, 43, had challenged CAF’s decision at sport’s highest court while also dealing with conflicts involving the Cameroonian sports ministry. Sources indicate that Eto’o is aiming for a vice-presidential position within CAF.
