Everton New Boss ‘Rafa Benitez’ Impressed With Alex Iwobi
Everton boss Rafael Benitez says he is impressed with Alex Iwobi and others players following their good works in the pre season.
The Spanish manager who was appointed as the successor to Carlo Ancelotti guided the Toffees to a 1-0 win over Puma UNAM in the Florida Cup at the Camping World Stadium on Wednesday.
Iwobi was involved in the game from the start and he was unlucky not to register his name on the scoresheet before he was replaced in the second half.
Italian striker Moise Kean scored the only goal of the game on the 19th minutes when he capitalised on error from goalkeeper Julio Gonzalez.
Speaking about their pre season form so far, Benitez says he’s impressed with their progress so far and want the team to keep learning and improving.
“To have the team doing well and winning games in pre-season isfine but the main thing for me is to make sure we are starting theseason better.”
“We were learning how to manage another way to attack and defend against a different system. And that is a great opportunity for us to grow, to improve. And I think that we did well in the end.”
Everton will now take on Manchester United in another friendly at the Old Trafford on August 7, before kicking off their premier league week later.
