Ex-agriculture minister, Ruma, dies at 59
A former Minister of Agriculture and Water resources, Abba Ruma, died on Wednesday at 59.
Ruma, from Batsari Local Government Area of of Katsina state was a minister under late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
Family sources said the late minister died in a London hospital, though official cause of death was yet to be ascertained as of Wednesday evening.
It could also not be ascertained whether his remains would be buried in London, Abuja or in Katsina.
Although some family sources said the remains would be flown to Nigeria on Friday.
His uncle, Alhaji Sada Ruma, who is the Danwairan Katsina, confirmed the development.
The late minister was the Chairman of the Governing Council, International Fund for Agricultural Development, with Headquarters in Rome, Italy and was also a Partner Minister of the United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
Ruma was the founder of Cherish International School and Health Sciences located in Batsari, with campuses in Katsina.
He was born March 13, 1962 and was survived by two wives and nine children.
