Falz Stands in Solidarity Despite Financial Loss from Labour Strike

Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has voiced his support for the ongoing strike by labour unions, despite it adversely affecting his business.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) initiated an indefinite strike on Monday, advocating for a new minimum wage for workers and a reassessment of the recent increase in electricity prices.

Falz revealed that the strike left him stranded in Uyo after his return flight to Lagos was cancelled due to airport closures. Additionally, he incurred financial losses due to the cancellation of a video shoot in Lagos.

Despite the setbacks, Falz empathized with the reasons behind the strike and expressed his solidarity with the labour unions’ demands. In a video shared on his Instagram account, he highlighted the inconvenience caused by the strike, acknowledging its importance and emphasizing his support for the cause.

Falz’s stance reflects his commitment to social justice and aligns with the broader struggle for fair wages and workers’ rights advocated by the labour unions.
