Favour Ashe Targets Double Gold Medals at Niger Delta Sports Festival

United States-based sprinter Favour Ashe is poised to be the star attraction as track and field events kick off at the inaugural Niger Delta Sports Festival in Uyo today. The event, which began yesterday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, is the first-ever regional sports festival of its kind in Nigeria, with over 4,000 athletes and officials participating.

Ashe, who burst onto the Nigerian athletics scene in 2022, is the clear favorite in both the 100m and 200m races. He led Nigeria’s male relay team at the 2022 World Athletics Championship in Eugene, Oregon, where he earned recognition on the global stage. This year, he is in excellent form and is expected to put on a strong performance at the festival.

A source from Team Delta expressed high expectations for Ashe, stating, “We expect him to improve on his previous performances and deliver strong results in both the 100m and 200m events.” With such an impressive track record, Ashe’s bid for double gold at the festival has garnered considerable attention.
