FG may ban unvaccinated Nigerians from government facilities
The Federal Government may consider barring unvaccinated individuals from accessing government facilities, among other measures, if the Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy being witnessed continues.
It was gathered, however, that the decision would only be taken if the government did not notice any significant improvement after the ongoing enlightenment and engagement across the country.
Recall that the Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, has said the government might enforce the law against those who refuse Covid-19 vaccination.
The Edo State Government had already started barring government workers without Covid-19 vaccination certificates from accessing government buildings.
Meanwhile, the Osun State government has handed down a three week ultimatum for civil servants to get vaccinated or be barred from the state secretariat.
The Special Adviser to Osun State Government on Public Health, Dr. Siji Olamiju disclosed the government’s plan on Friday.
Olamiju also said the government had made Staff Clinic at Abere Secretariat a point of test for civil servants, adding that the workers had been responding.
He said, “The Ministry of Health has made the staff clinic at Abere a point of test for all civil servants in the secretariat and they are responding. After we have given them a certain period of time, those who still remain unvaccinated may not be allowed to enter into the secretariat.
The state government through a circular to all ministries, departments and agencies obtained on Sunday mandated all public servants who had been vaccinated against Covid-19 to visit the nearest government health centre to them or their place of work to get vaccinated.
