Fireboy’s 4th Album ‘Adedamola’ Features Lagbaja, Seun Kuti, and Jon Baptiste

Fireboy, the Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, has unveiled the tracklist for his highly anticipated fourth album, ‘Adedamola,’ set to release on August 29, 2024. The album promises an exciting blend of musical talent, featuring collaborations with legendary Nigerian artists like Lagbaja and Seun Kuti, as well as Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter Jon Baptiste.

Announced via Fireboy’s social media on August 19, ‘Adedamola’ brings together an impressive lineup of musicians. Notably, Lagbaja’s participation marks a significant moment for fans, as the iconic mask-wearing artist, whose last public performance was at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), hasn’t released new music in over two decades. His unique sound, which shaped the Nigerian music scene in the late 90s and early 2000s, adds a nostalgic layer to the album.

Also featured on the 14-track project are Afrobeat star Seun Kuti, known for his Grammy-nominated work and continuing his father Fela Kuti’s legacy, Afrobeats hitmaker Lojay, and Nigerian superstar DJ and producer Spinall. The inclusion of these artists is expected to create a dynamic and diverse listening experience that spans different styles and generations of Afrobeat and Afrobeats.

Fireboy’s collaboration with Jon Baptiste, a Grammy Album of the Year winner, and Seun Kuti suggests a strategic move towards international recognition, potentially aiming for a Grammy nomination in the Global categories. Releasing the album just days before the August 31 Grammy eligibility deadline might be an attempt to capitalize on this window.

‘Adedamola,’ which takes its name from Fireboy’s birth name, signals a departure from the hedonistic themes of his previous album, ‘Playboy.’ Released two years ago, ‘Playboy’ featured hits like “Bandana” with Asake. The new album is expected to be more introspective, reflecting personal and sentimental themes, a nod to the emotional depth that characterized his debut album, ‘Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps.’

Fans eagerly await this new chapter in Fireboy’s musical journey, anticipating a blend of heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies that have defined his career so far.
