Former Kwara LG Secretary Abdullahi AbdulSalam Resigns from APC Over Internal Crises
A former Secretary of Moro Local Government Area in Kwara State, Hon. Abdullahi AbdulRauph AbdulSalam, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal conflicts and leadership failures within the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 20, 2025, and addressed to the Moro LG APC chairman, AbdulSalam expressed his discontent over what he described as “endless conflicts, crises, and lack of unity” at all levels of the party in Kwara State.
“This is largely a result of inadequate leadership capacity to manage crises and resolve conflicts. Furthermore, the lack of unity and peaceful coexistence among party leaders at the state level has hindered progress,” he stated.
AbdulSalam further pointed to recent violent clashes within the Moro LGA chapter of APC, which he said resulted in physical attacks on innocent party members, as a key reason for his exit.
“The recent APC crisis in Moro LGA has made it clear that it’s time for me to move on. I have decided to align myself with like-minded individuals who prioritize peace and progress, with the goal of restoring Kwara State’s lost glory,” he added.
The politician, who previously served as the Youth Empowerment Coordinator and a board member of Kwara Express, initially joined the APC in March 2023 but has now chosen to step away due to what he views as unresolved leadership challenges.
As the National Secretary of the Ilorin Emirate for Unity and Development Initiative (IEUDI), AbdulSalam expressed gratitude to the APC leadership for the experience he gained but urged them to work toward restoring stability within the party.
“I pray that the party leadership will acquire the wisdom needed to resolve the ongoing crises affecting the state’s peace,” he concluded.
