Galatasaray Hope To Secure Henry Onyekuru on a Permanent Deal after Impressive Loan Spell

Galatasaray have firmed up their interest in Monaco’s forward Henry Onyekuru by opening transfer negotiations with the French side.

The Turkish Super Lig club have offered to take up the Super Eagles star on a six months loan deal with an option to buy for N2.3 billion (€5 million) at the end of the season.

But Monaco, as reported by Turkish publications Fotomac, have rejected the offer as being not up to their expectation for a player that bought for €13.5 million a year and a half ago.

But Galatasaray are hopeful of completing the signing of Onyekuru before the end of the January transfer window, with the former Eupen star also keen on going back to Turkey.

Onyekuru enjoyed a fantastic first year at Galatasaray in 2018 when, then on-loan from Everton, he smashed in 14 goals and contributed five assists as coach Fatih Terim’s side romped to their 22nd Super Lig title.

After initial struggles in France following his move from Everton to Monaco, Onyekuru spent the second half of the season at Galatasaray, where he was only able to manage a goal and an assist in ten league matches for the Yellow-Reds.

That unsuccessful spell, however, did little to tarnish the reputation of the former Eupen star with his bosses at Galatasaray.

The Turkish giants are still desperately in pursuit of the Nigerian star who helped them to their last title triumph

Onyekuru has managed just one league start for Monaco so far this season.
