Girl child, a treasure before Allah

Children are blessing from Almighty Allah, Allah does not discriminate between two genders (boy and girl). Therefore in Islam, there is not distinction in bringing up a girl or boy.

Allah is the One, based on His ultimate wisdom and power grants whoever He wills, sons and daughters. He grants sons only to whomever He will and daughters only to whomever He wills and if He so wills, he makes whomever He wills, infertile. (Qur’an 49:50).

Prophet Muhammed (Peace be unto Him) commands us to be loving, patient and care for our daughters physically, emotionally and mentally. Again, in another Hadith by the Prophet (Peace be unto Him), he said, “Girl child come4s with great rewards and blessings if you offer care, love, support, and education to your girl child, paradise awaits you”.

No doubt, girl child in Islam is a blessing and a gift from God. Almighty Allah said, “Parents who are merciful and generous to their daughters, He will be merciful towards them”.

One who loves his daughters and withstand the hardship of grooming and getting them married, Almighty Allah will make paradise compulsory for him and keep him protected from hell fire. The Prophet also commanded that, “Whenever you buy anything from the market, first present it to your female children, then to your male children.

Prophet Musa (AS) asked Allah (SWA) what do you do when you are happy the most? He replied, I create daughters. Therefore Prophet Muhammad’s words (SAW) that “Lucky is a woman whose first child is a female” is instructive.

Daughters are without doubt a blessing from Almighty Allah, they are a means to salvation and a path to heaven, to their parents. A daughter is a great bounty and a honour granted by Almighty Allah. Teach your daughters to be a hidden treasure, not an open book, protect their modesty and dress in a way that is pleasing to Allah.
