Handi, Shaun, Tjay Evicted from Big Brother Naija Season 9

In a tense Big Brother Naija Season 9 live show, three housemates—Handi, Shaun, and Tjay—were evicted, leaving just six contestants in the game. Host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu delivered the news during the Sunday night eviction show, with only two weeks remaining until the grand finale. The evictions were the result of a dramatic face-to-face nomination twist, which took place earlier in the week, increasing the intensity of the competition.

Handi Danbaki, Shaun Okojie, and Tunji Adeniji (Tjay) were among nine housemates nominated for eviction. After the audience votes were tallied, Shaun received 8.94% of the votes, Handi earned 3.99%, and Tjay had the lowest tally with just 1.04%. Their departure left fellow housemates and viewers on edge as the final stretch of the competition approached.

The evictions were particularly emotional for Wanni, who broke down after seeing both her close ally and lover, Shaun, as well as her sister, Handi, leave the house. Handi, during her post-eviction interview, shared her heartbreak at leaving behind her sister and partner, saying, “It is so hard leaving my sister, the love of my life. I was already prepared for the worst, but two more weeks for the housemates. My twin and I are going higher.”

Tjay, reflecting on his time in the house, admitted that he never expected to make it this far. Grateful for his wife’s support, he said, “I didn’t think I would get this far. My wife has been amazing; she told me to go in and do my best. This is for every woman supporting her husband—you are all strong and brilliant.” Tjay, a doctor, hinted at pursuing acting alongside his medical career after the show.

These evictions followed Ben and Chizoba’s departure the previous week, leaving the remaining six contestants to battle for the ₦100 million grand prize, which includes a cash reward, an SUV, and other sponsored prizes. The stakes are now higher, with alliances tested and new strategies emerging as housemates fight to stay in the competition.

Monday’s Head of House challenge added to the drama, with Sooj emerging victorious and securing his place in the final weeks. With just two weeks left until the show’s conclusion on October 6, viewers eagerly anticipate how the remaining housemates will navigate the emotional and strategic challenges ahead.
