According to Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein’s prison consultant, and Juda Engelmayer, Weinstein’s representative, the disgraced producer is being attended to by the New York City Department of Corrections and NYC Health + Hospitals/Correctional Health Services.
The overturning of Weinstein’s conviction comes after a 4-3 decision by the appeals court, which found procedural errors in his trial. Weinstein is expected to return to court on May 1 to address the implications of the overturned conviction.
Despite the overturned conviction, Weinstein is not being released from prison. He still faces charges in California related to sexual assault allegations made by four women. Additionally, in December 2022, Weinstein was found guilty of rape and other sexual misconduct charges, resulting in a 16-year prison sentence.
Weinstein’s case has been highly publicized and has become emblematic of the #MeToo movement. His legal battles are ongoing, with multiple allegations of sexual assault and misconduct spanning several decades.
