How to treat under eye bags through lifestyle changes

Many people may notice as they grow older that something that look like bags may begin to form in their eyes. It may be called puffy eyes.

Many of us in the developing countries like Nigeria do not care about these changes in our body. We simply dismiss those changes that occur in our body with the expression ” man is aging’.

It can happen to anybody including men and women.

In developed countries, people visit their doctors for a surgical operation called blepharoplasty .A cosmetic surgery where a surgeon cuts along the creases of the eyelid to turn sagging skin and muscle and remove excess fats.

This process may be expensive and have some side effects. However, there are lifestyle methods and home remedies that have been proven to be effective in eliminating these bags from the eyes.

1. Use a cool compress.

Soaking a clean cloth in a cool water from the fridge and gently pressing it on the eyelids have been proven to be effective. But it works better if you slice cucumber, freeze it and use the sliced cucumber for the compress.

2. Reduce the quantity of fluids you drink at night and reduce your salt intake.

Reducing fluid intake before bedtime is important because it helps in many ways

It also helps to reduce water retention in your eyes. Remember that this does not mean cutting down on the quantity of water you drink.but the water or other fluids you drink at night.

3. Don’t smoke or quit smoking.

Smoking increases the chances of your getting bags in the eyes.

4. Get enough sleep.

A person’s eyes may become puffy after a night of sleeplessness. That can reveal to you how much you need to be sleeping. It is recommended that we take about 7 to 9 hours of sleep every day.

5. Sleep with your head slightly raised.

Sleeping with a good pillow or making sure that you always sleep with your head raised is important for preventing bags in the eyes.

6. Drink enough water.

Drinking enough water is key to overcoming puffy eyes.

7. Take more fruits and vegetables.

Fruits and vegetables generally may help in treatment of puffy eyes, but read more for specific fruits that will help a lot.

Don’t ignore the changes you notice in your body, take steps to help yourself.
