I Deleted My X Page for My Mental Health” – Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Adetshina
Newly-crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Adetshina, has opened up about her decision to delete her X page (formerly Twitter) due to concerns over her mental health. The 23-year-old beauty queen faced intense criticism while competing in Miss South Africa, which only escalated after allegations from the South African Department of Home Affairs (DHA) suggested that her mother was involved in fraud and identity theft.
In a candid interview with Arise 360, Chidinma explained how the backlash on social media became overwhelming, with negative comments flooding her daily. She revealed that she spent hours reading comments, which started to affect her well-being. The decision to delete her X page was a way for her to protect her peace of mind and focus on her mental health.
“I had to delete it because it was too much for me. I’m a comment reader, and I could spend 80% of my day reading comments. It became toxic,” she admitted, highlighting how much of an impact online feedback had on her.
Although Chidinma still maintains an active presence on Instagram, she mentioned that she previously had to limit her comment section to manage the negativity. Despite the challenges, she expressed gratitude to her fans who have continued to show support during this difficult period.
Chidinma’s experience serves as a reminder of the pressures public figures face, especially on social media, and the importance of taking steps to preserve mental health.
