Igahlo Scores a double for Al-Shabab
Former Nigerian striker opened his account for the season, but it was not enough to give his side their first win of the campaign
Odion Ighalo was at his brilliant best after scoring a brace in Al-Shabab’s 3-3 draw against Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Professional League.
Ighalo opened his account for the season when he finished off a ball from Moteb Al-Harbi. Former Sevilla star Ever Banega then made it two for the home side in the second minute of the first half added time.
The Argentine turned provider four minutes after the break as he set up Ighalo for his second. At that point, it looked like Al-Shabab were home and dry.
However, Al-Ettifaq had other ideas as they sealed a miraculous comeback with three goals in the last 13 minutes of the game.
Walid Azarou pulled one back for the home side before Robin Quaison made it 3-2 in the 80th minute. Ibrahim Mahnash completed the comeback with a strike two minutes from time.
It was a disappointing result for Al-Shabab, who are still looking for their first win of the season, but Ighalo would be satisfied with his performance.
