Ini Edo Dismisses Marriage Speculations and Clarifies New Series Promotion

Nollywood actress Ini Edo has addressed recent rumors about her potential wedding, dismissing them as mere speculation. In September 2024, the actress shared a photo of herself wearing a traditional Efik bridal gown, leading to widespread assumptions that she was announcing an engagement. However, during a recent interview with Premium Times, she clarified that the post was meant to promote her upcoming four-part series titled *My Fairytale Wedding*, not to signal any personal engagement.

When asked about her views on marriage, Ini Edo expressed that she is not particularly focused on the institution itself. “I’m not crazy about marriage; I am crazy about having a solid relationship. I’m not hoping, and it’s not any of my prayer points,” she stated. This perspective reflects her shift in priorities following her previous marriage to Nigerian-American businessman Philip Ehiagwina, which lasted from 2008 until their divorce in 2014.

In addition to addressing her views on marriage, the actress is currently dealing with a legal setback regarding her ownership claim of the popular Netflix series *Shanty Town*. Ini Edo, through her production company, Minini Empire Productions Limited, had filed a double intellectual property petition against Nigerian filmmaker Chinenye Nworah and her company, Giant Creative Media Limited, over the trademark rights to the series. However, the Nigerian Trademark Registry (NTR) and the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) have both ruled in favor of Nworah, dismissing Edo’s claims as baseless.

The Trademark Registry rejected Ini Edo’s petition regarding the trademarks associated with *Shanty Town*, stating it lacked merit. Furthermore, the NCC dismissed her request for the cancellation of copyright certificates held by Chinenye Nworah, confirming her exclusive ownership of the series’ rights.

As Ini Edo navigates these challenges, she remains focused on her career and personal growth, prioritizing meaningful relationships over societal expectations of marriage.
