It Feels Good to End Benin’s 8 Years Unbeaten Home Run – Rohr
Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr says he’s proud of his boys following their 1-0 win over the Benin Republic in Saturday’s African cup of Nations qualifiers.
Super Eagles needed a late goal from in-form striker Paul Onuachu to pick the maximum points at the Stade Charles De Gaulle on Saturday.
The victory ended the Squirrels 8 year unbeaten home record in the process and also helped the Eagles maintained their position as the Group Leaders.
Speaking to journalists after the game, Rohr said he’s super delighted to see his ending the Beninese home run.
“It was a sweet victory. It really feels good to finally end Benin’s eight-year unbeaten record at home,” Rohr said after the game.
” Even when the goal refused to come, my players remained calm because we already knew the result of the game between Lesotho and Sierra Leone. We had also already qualified for the AFCON.”
Nigeria will host Lesotho in their final match of the qualifiers on Tuesday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
