I’ve never used a songwriter in my life – Singer Rema spills

In a statement, popular Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor professionally known as Rema disclosed what makes him different from other artistes.

During the interview, Rema disclosed that as a singer he has never used a songwriter before in his life.

According to Rema, all the songs he has released so far since he gets the limelight have been from only him while adding that he records his songs alone in the studio.

Rema who is signed to Don Jazzy’s record label asserts that apart from the help of producers who produce beats, the lyrics parts has always been from him.

Rema said; “Everything you have heard all written by me. I’ve never used a songwriter in my life and that is what it is been all about. The only thing I could add in composing a song is just actual producer. Yeah, you know for the beats. But when it comes to like creating, I do my thing a lot. I’m mostly in the studio alone.”

Recall that Rema rose to stardom after releasing the song “Dumebi” in 2020. The singer is an established artistes in the Nigeria music industry and by extension takes Afrobeats to the global stage.

He is well known for some of his hit songs that include, Calm Down, Ginger Me, Charm, Bounce, Soundgasm, Won Da Mo among others.

His Global hit, Calm Down with Selena Gomez becomes the first song in histroy to spend one year on top of the Billboard US Afrobeats songs chart.
