Iyabo Ojo Criticizes 2Baba Over Public Divorce Announcement

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed her disappointment in veteran singer 2Baba over his recent public announcement about his separation from wife Annie Idibia.

Taking to Instagram, Iyabo Ojo faulted the timing of the revelation, stating that 2Baba failed to show empathy, especially given the backlash Annie has been facing over her appearance on Young, Famous & African.

She wrote, “A heartfelt reminder to couples: when love fades, prioritize your children’s well-being. As parents, sacrifices are essential. Never abandon loved ones in their darkest moments, even if separation or divorce is inevitable.

“Let’s emphasize empathy and our children’s mental health. Sensitive issues shouldn’t be publicly aired; social media sometimes disregards the well-being of those involved.

“@official2baba, I adore you both, but this timing was off. Adding fuel to the fire, burning the mother of your kids who’s already vulnerable, is so unempathetic. I’m disappointed.”

Iyabo also sent prayers to Annie, wishing her strength to focus on her children, while assuring her that the storm would eventually pass.

Meanwhile, Nigerian singer and content creator Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, popularly known as Nasboi, has urged Nigerians to stop using celebrity marriages as a standard for defining relationships.

Reacting to 2Baba’s divorce announcement, Nasboi wrote on X, “One celebrity divorce, and you start saying this thing called marriage isn’t for you. But you forget about your parents, who’ve been married for over 30 years. Stop using celebrity marriages to define marriage. If you don’t want to marry, that’s your business.”

He further stated that when he gets married, he will keep it private to avoid public scrutiny.

“I’ll hide my marriage when I’m ready. Nothing online, please! I don’t want some random child having opinions about my life.”

His comments reflect the growing concerns over social media interference in celebrity relationships and the impact of public opinions on personal matters.
