Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Finalize Divorce
Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially finalized their divorce, bringing their high-profile relationship to an end. Lopez, 55, filed for divorce in August 2024, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. She listed April 26 as their date of separation, marking the conclusion of a nearly two-year marriage that began in July 2022.
According to TMZ, the divorce settlement ensures that both Lopez and Affleck retain their individual possessions, including private businesses and earnings from their respective projects. Neither party will be required to pay spousal support.
As part of the agreement, Affleck will maintain his stake in Artists Equity, the production company he co-founded with Matt Damon in 2022, just months before his marriage to Lopez. Artists Equity has produced several acclaimed films, such as Air, Unstoppable, The Instigators, Small Things Like These, and The Accountant 2.
Lopez, on the other hand, will retain earnings from her projects, including Atlas, This Is Me… Now, The Mother, Shotgun Wedding, and Marry Me. The settlement also includes Lopez reverting to her maiden name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, as she drops Affleck from her last name.
Additionally, the couple agreed to sell their $61 million home, although details about the sale remain undisclosed. This decision further underscores their intent to move forward separately, both personally and professionally.
Reflecting on the split, Lopez admitted in October 2024 that the separation was emotionally challenging, saying it almost “took me out for good.” However, she expressed no regrets about her decision, highlighting her resilience and determination to focus on her future.
The divorce marks the end of a whirlwind romance for the couple, who rekindled their relationship nearly 20 years after their first engagement in 2002. Despite their efforts to make it work, the relationship ultimately proved unsustainable.
