Jennifer Lopez Embraces Nigerian Name ‘Ifunanya’

In a recent interview, American actress and singer Jennifer Lopez revealed that she has adopted a Nigerian name, ‘Ifunanya,’ which translates to ‘love’ in the Igbo language.

The suggestion to adopt the name came from Nigerian media personality Drea Okeke during the interview. Okeke, describing Lopez as a “certified lover girl,” explained the significance of the name and its meaning.

Delighted by the suggestion, Lopez enthusiastically embraced the name, stating, “Call me Ifunanya.”

During the conversation, Okeke also suggested the Nigerian name “Obim,” meaning “my heart,” for Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck. Lopez expressed her liking for the name and mentioned her intention to call all her children by that name.

This adoption of Nigerian names by Lopez and her positive reception reflects a growing appreciation for Nigerian culture and traditions globally.

It’s worth noting that Lopez and Affleck, after rekindling their love, tied the knot in 2023, marking a significant event in their relationship, 17 years after their initial breakup.
