Jide Kosoko Opens Up About His Polygamous Life but Says He Doesn’t Advocate for It

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has addressed misconceptions about his polygamous lifestyle, clarifying that he never had four wives at the same time. Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, he explained that his marriages happened in phases due to unfortunate losses.

“I didn’t have four wives at the same time o, don’t get it wrong because people are getting it wrong. I had two, but then I lost them. Then I married another two,” Kosoko stated, correcting long-held beliefs about his family life.

Despite his personal experience, the actor made it clear that he does not advocate for polygamy, emphasizing that not everyone is fortunate enough to manage it successfully. He shared how financial challenges can create difficulties in a polygamous home, using birthday celebrations as an example.

“In some polygamous houses, you have mothers with different children. One child has a birthday, and we celebrate it elaborately. But by the time the next child’s birthday comes, if I’m not financially buoyant, we do nothing. My children and their mothers understand that about me. If your birthday comes and I have money, I’d do it. If I don’t, that’s your fate. It’s a matter of luck with me,” he explained.

Kosoko also stressed the importance of showing love in different ways to ensure children feel valued, even when material things are unavailable.

“You have to show that you love them all in other ways. That way, when the love doesn’t come through material things, they’d understand that you’re just broke,” he advised.

His candid revelations have sparked discussions online, with many applauding his honesty about the realities of polygamous family life.
