Joeboy Sheds Light on Domestic Violence Against Women in Africa

Afrobeats sensation Joseph Akinfenwaa Donus, popularly known as Joeboy, recently discussed the inspiration behind his hit song “Better,” which addresses the pressing issue of domestic violence against women in Africa. In an interview with popular media personality Vivz, Joeboy explained his motivation for writing the song, emphasizing the prevalence of domestic abuse in African society.

Joeboy highlighted that the song aims to bring attention to the mistreatment women often face. “It’s something that happens a lot in African society; domestic abuse. Sometimes women are maltreated and not treated properly. I wanted to shed light on domestic violence against women,” Joeboy said during the interview. The host, Vivz, praised “Better,” noting, “In that song, it’s like you’re speaking up for a woman that has been treated badly by another man.”

In addition to his advocacy through music, Joeboy recently announced the launch of his new label, Young Legend, in partnership with Warner Group. This initiative aims to nurture the next generation of music talents. Despite embarking on this new journey, Joeboy remains grateful to Mr. Eazi, who played a pivotal role in his career through emPawa Africa, the record label that helped him rise to fame.
