Joseph Benjamin Opens Up About His Move to America and New Projects

Nigerian actor and TV host Joseph Benjamin recently discussed his decision to relocate to the United States in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES. Known for his roles in popular films like Tango With Me and Murder at Prime Suites, Joseph highlighted both personal and professional motivations behind his move.

He explained that his desire to explore new opportunities played a significant role in his decision. “I had reached a point in my career where I felt like I had hit every height I could. I just sensed there was so much more out there,” he shared. While he didn’t have a concrete plan when he made the move, he emphasized the importance of taking bold steps to embrace new experiences.

Joseph clarified that his relocation was not influenced by Nigeria’s recent wave of emigration, known locally as “Japa,” as the term hadn’t even emerged by the time he left. He wanted to carve out a new path and experience what the world had to offer.

Currently, Joseph has returned to hosting with the new reality series Style Magnate, which premiered on Showmax on October 4. The show features 20 up-and-coming fashion designers competing for a life-changing package worth 100 million Naira, including a cash prize and a three-month internship. He expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating that it highlights the burgeoning fashion industry in Nigeria and provides a platform for emerging talent.

Despite misconceptions about him working as an Uber driver in America, Joseph clarified that it was a necessary choice for him to manage his finances while pursuing his career in entertainment. “I found myself in a system where I had to pay my bills and be realistic about it,” he explained. His time as an Uber driver allowed him to adapt to a new environment while still working towards his goals in the entertainment industry.
