Kanye West’s Website Shut Down After Swastika T-Shirt Controversy
Kanye West’s Yeezy website went offline on Tuesday after the brand attempted to sell plain white T-shirts featuring a swastika. Visitors to the site were met with the message, “Something went wrong” and “This store is unavailable.”
The controversy began after West, now known as Ye, aired a low-budget commercial during the Super Bowl, directing viewers to his website. Initially, the site displayed various Yeezy fashion items, but it later switched to showcasing only the offensive T-shirt, priced at $20.
Shopify quickly took action, stating, “All merchants are responsible for following our platform rules. This merchant did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms, so we removed them from Shopify.”
The incident follows Ye’s recent outburst on X (formerly Twitter), where he made inflammatory statements, including calling himself a “Nazi.” His account went dark shortly after, though it remains unclear whether he deactivated it or if X took action.
Ye has been banned from social media platforms multiple times due to controversial remarks. His latest controversy includes defending Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently facing sex trafficking charges, and making provocative statements at the Grammys with his wife, Bianca Censori.
Adding to his legal troubles, a former Jewish employee filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles, accusing Ye of making antisemitic comments and comparing himself to Adolf Hitler.
