Katie Price Declared Bankrupt Again, Cites “Serious Stuff” for Missing Court Hearing
Reality TV personality Katie Price found herself declared bankrupt for the second time after missing a court hearing, attributing her absence to dealing with personal challenges.
The 45-year-old, known for her stint as a glamour model and TV personality, owes a substantial sum of nearly £762,000 to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) due to outstanding tax liabilities spanning the years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. These debts include income tax, VAT, surcharges, and interest, as stated by a judge.
Despite responding to HMRC regarding the debt, Price failed to attend the Insolvency and Companies Court hearing in London on Monday. Consequently, she was declared bankrupt by the judge, marking her second bankruptcy declaration since 2019.
Price expressed her shock upon learning about the ruling while recording a podcast, exclaiming, “Has it? Oh get lost… Are you actually serious, while I’m sat here? What have I done now?” She clarified her absence, stating that she had been “dealing with serious stuff” and was unaware of the court’s decision.
In her podcast appearance, Price emphasized the complexities of bankruptcy and asserted her commitment to meeting her financial obligations, particularly regarding taxes. She acknowledged the repercussions of non-payment, emphasizing her responsibility to fulfill her financial duties.
This recent bankruptcy declaration adds to Price’s legal woes, as she was fined £880 last week for driving without a license or insurance in Northamptonshire. Additionally, in February, a High Court ruling mandated Price to allocate 40% of her earnings from the adult entertainment website OnlyFans to trustees for the next three years, following a dispute over unpaid debts.
Scheduled to face inquiries regarding her finances in April, Price’s legal battles underscore the challenges she faces despite her earlier successes in the entertainment industry.
Beyond her career as a glamour model and TV personality, Price gained recognition for her appearances on reality TV shows like “I’m A Celebrity” and her involvement in BBC documentaries.
