Kesha Alters “Tik Tok” Lyrics at Coachella, Sending Message to P. Diddy
During a surprise performance at Coachella, Kesha made a bold statement by changing the lyrics of her 2009 hit “Tik Tok” to “Wake up in the morning like fuck P. Diddy.” The alteration of the lyrics was accompanied by Kesha, Reneé Rapp, and another musician in the band raising their middle fingers, signaling a clear message to Sean “Diddy” Combs.
This isn’t the first time Kesha has modified the lyrics of “Tik Tok” in response to allegations against Combs. In November, during her Only Love tour stop in L.A., she changed the opening line to “Wake up in the morning feeling just like me,” following allegations of physical and sexual abuse against Combs by singer Cassie Ventura and others.
The allegations against Combs have continued to surface, including accusations of harassment and trafficking by producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones and a lawsuit implicating Combs’ son, Christian, in sexual assault. Moreover, Combs’ homes were raided by Homeland Security, leading to the loss of brand deals and his resignation as CEO of Revolt TV.
Kesha’s decision to alter the lyrics of “Tik Tok” at Coachella reflects her stance against alleged misconduct by P. Diddy and echoes her support for the victims who have come forward with their experiences.
