Korra Obidi Discusses the Benefits of Singlehood in the Entertainment Industry
Popular Nigerian socialite and dancer Korra Obidi has shared her insights on the advantages of being single in the entertainment industry. Speaking on the “Heroes Diary” show, Korra reflected on the notable success she has experienced since her divorce and discussed how marriage can limit opportunities in the industry.
Korra highlighted that while people initially show excitement and support when someone gets married and starts a family, this enthusiasm often wanes over time. Married entertainers may find themselves losing relevance, leading to fewer invitations to shows and film appearances.
She pointed out that when an entertainer becomes single again, there is a resurgence of interest and sympathy from the public and industry professionals. This renewed attention can lead to more bookings and opportunities.
Korra expressed her belief that singlehood offers significant advantages in the entertainment world. She stated, “One thing about we humans is that when somebody’s married, I don’t know, you people don’t like the person anymore. You kind of like go ‘ahh happy married life’, and then ‘she can’t be on my show,’ ‘she can’t be in my movie’. But now I’m single… I’m getting booked back to back, so it’s good for me. I think being single is good in the industry.”
Korra’s comments reflect her personal experience and underscore the perception that single entertainers may have greater flexibility and appeal in their professional lives.
