‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ Triumphs Over ‘Godzilla x Kong’ in U.K., Ireland Box Office Battle

In a surprising turn of events, Universal’s “Kung Fu Panda 4” has emerged victorious at the U.K. and Ireland box office, raking in £2.8 million ($3.6 million) in its second weekend and securing the top spot. With this weekend’s earnings, the film’s total now stands at an impressive £12.7 million.

Following closely behind is Warner Bros.’ “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” which landed in second place with £1.9 million, bringing its total to £9.1 million after two weekends.

Sony’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” maintained its momentum in third place, adding £1.3 million to its tally in its third weekend, totaling £12.1 million. Meanwhile, Warner Bros.’ “Dune: Part II” secured the fourth position with £1.1 million in its sixth weekend, amassing a total of £36.8 million.

Making its debut in fifth place is Universal’s “Monkey Man,” directed by and starring Dev Patel, which opened with £810,253.

Additionally, there were three notable debuts in the top 10: Disney’s “The First Omen” claimed the sixth spot with £521,573, while Entertainment Film Distributors’ “Seize Them!” landed in eighth place with £132,207. Disney’s “Luca” rounded out the top 10 with £110,964.

Looking ahead, several mid-week releases are slated for Wednesday, April 10, including Bollywood films “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” and “Maidaan,” as well as the concert film “SUGA | Agust D TOUR ‘D-DAY’ THE MOVIE” featuring BTS member SUGA.

On Friday, audiences can anticipate the release of Sam Taylor-Johnson’s biopic “Back to Black,” chronicling Amy Winehouse’s journey to recording her groundbreaking album. Additionally, Alex Garland’s dystopian thriller “Civil War” and Victor Erice’s Cannes title “Close Your Eyes” are set to hit theaters, offering audiences a diverse range of cinematic experiences.
