Lagos State Government Calls for Nutrition Policy Implementation in Orphanages

The Lagos State Government has emphasized the importance of implementing the government’s nutrition policy in orphanages across the state to ensure the well-being of orphans under their care.

Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, made this declaration during a capacity building program for operators of orphanages and homes. Ogunlende stressed the need for operators to adhere to the laid down rules outlined in the Lagos State Policy On Food And Nutrition.

The administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu aims not only to ensure food security but also to meet the nutritional requirements of wards in both government and private homes. Ogunlende reiterated the government’s commitment to leaving no one behind, as outlined in the THEMES plus Agenda, urging participants to implement the knowledge gained from the training.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, highlighted the importance of continuous learning and adaptation to evolving realities in the sector. She emphasized the necessity of prioritizing nutrition in orphanages and private homes, ensuring that children under their care receive the best possible care.

The program’s relevance was further underscored by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Amodu Obajomo, who highlighted the significance of implementing the Lagos State Policy on Food And Nutrition. He emphasized that nutritional well-being is crucial for development and human progress, reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting nutrition initiatives across the state.
