Lolo 1 Says Nigerians Would Rather Endure Hardship Abroad Than Return Home

In a recent interview with News Central, Nollywood actress Omotunde Adebowale David, widely known as Lolo 1, expressed her concern about the plight of Nigerians living abroad. She pointed out that many Nigerians would rather endure difficult conditions in foreign countries than return to Nigeria due to the severe lack of basic amenities and opportunities in their home country.

Lolo 1 highlighted that despite facing struggles such as high living costs and challenging conditions abroad, Nigerians continue to stay in foreign countries because of access to essential services like reliable electricity, good roads, and functional public transportation systems. These are basic necessities that are often missing in Nigeria, according to the actress.

The Nollywood star also criticized Nigerian leaders for failing to provide a better quality of life, which has forced many citizens to seek opportunities and stability abroad. She expressed disappointment over how Nigerians are contributing to the development of foreign countries while their own country struggles with basic infrastructure.

In her own words, Lolo 1 said, “I feel bad for Nigerians, I feel bad because are the facts not glaring? I don’t know much about data but the data is literally in your face. It shows that we are making the lives of foreign countries easier.”

The actress emphasized the tough choices Nigerians face, stating, “People would rather suffer there and pay high school fees than be here and have relative ease.” She shared her dismay over the degrading living conditions that some Nigerians face abroad, despite the fact that they continue to manage because of the basic amenities available to them.

She added, “There are some people abroad that whose living conditions are so terrible and degrading but they would rather stay there managing because at least they are managing where there is constant electricity. They are managing but the roads are pliable. They are managing but at least they can still find transportation.”

Lolo 1 also pointed out the stark contrast in Nigeria, where even daily commuting can be a struggle. She noted that Nigerians often associate public transportation with poverty, which she believes is an unfair judgment. The actress also mentioned the rising cost of living, including the high cost of food, as a major concern for Nigerians who remain in the country.

Lolo 1’s remarks underscore the challenges faced by Nigerians both at home and abroad, urging the need for better governance and development within the country to improve the lives of its citizens.
