Manufacturers in Cross River Cry Out Over Electricity Shortages

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Akwa Ibom, and Cross River chapters have voiced concerns over the detrimental impact of erratic power supply on businesses in Cross River State.

During a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Eka Williams, in Calabar, the Acting Chairman of MAN, Usen Umoh, highlighted the urgent need to address the adverse effects of unreliable electricity on business operations.

Umoh emphasized the critical role of electricity in the business environment, stressing that its absence could jeopardize any entrepreneurial endeavor.

In response to the pressing power situation and the challenging business climate, MAN urged the state government to prioritize locally-made products, citing it as a crucial step towards fostering business growth within the state.

Williams, acknowledging the concerns raised by MAN, expressed the state’s readiness to collaborate with the association to bolster business activities. He highlighted Cross River’s potential in renewable energy and proposed partnerships with MAN to harness these resources effectively.
